Everyday wardrobe
A capsule wardrobe built from real weeks, not item counts
A practical method for owning fewer clothes without forcing every piece to serve every occasion.
01
Audit the calendar first
Count the kinds of days you actually have across a month. Office, home, exercise, client events, evenings, and travel each place different demands on clothing. A capsule should reflect that distribution. There is little value in five perfect blazers if most weeks need weatherproof layers and washable trousers.
02
Keep specialists where they earn space
Not every garment must combine with everything. A dinner suit, hiking shell, or heavy winter coat can remain specialised if the occasion is real. The flexible core should handle repeated ordinary days. Specialists should solve a clear problem better than a compromised universal piece.
03
Replace by evidence
Wear the current wardrobe and note what repeatedly stays in the laundry, needs repair, or fails to combine. Replace those failures first. Buying an imagined final capsule in one pass often reproduces the same mistakes in a neater colour palette. A good wardrobe becomes smaller through use, not through a shopping deadline.
